Hotel AI comparison · 2026

MAIIA vs HiJiffy: both can answer. Only one keeps selling.

HiJiffy and MAIIA are both broader hospitality AI platforms. To keep this comparison fair and testable, this article compares the equivalent guest-facing layer: HiJiffy’s website chatbot and MAIIA Website Sales Agent.

HiJiffy platform

A hospitality communication platform spanning website chat, omnichannel inbox, booking integrations, campaigns and guest-journey tools.

MAIIA platform

A connected hospitality AI platform spanning the Website Sales Agent, Guest App, Business Assistant, CMS intelligence and A2A access for external AI assistants.

The short answer

Communication automation and sales intelligence are not the same product.

Scope: this is not the entire HiJiffy platform compared with only one MAIIA module. Both platforms extend beyond the website. The product test below evaluates HiJiffy’s guest-facing website chatbot against MAIIA WSA, because those are the equivalent tools a hotelier is choosing for website discovery and pre-booking sales.

HiJiffy has credible strengths in channel coverage, inbox management, WhatsApp campaigns and guest-journey automation. In the website conversations we tested, however, its guest-facing sales layer repeatedly behaved like an FAQ system wrapped around booking and escalation flows.

Scope of this review

This comparison evaluates HiJiffy’s guest-facing website chatbot against MAIIA WSA — the equivalent tools a hotelier chooses for website discovery and pre-booking sales. In tested implementations, HiJiffy primarily automated answers, booking paths and escalation while MAIIA WSA performed the full sales job.

Choose HiJiffy website chat when…

  • FAQ deflection and standard booking flows are the primary website use case;
  • quick staff escalation is more important than developing a longer sales conversation;
  • prepared topics and CTAs cover most guest needs;
  • you are prepared to configure and maintain the website knowledge and flows.

Choose MAIIA WSA when…

  • your website agent must actively increase engagement and sales;
  • you want hotel-specific strategies, rich cards and meaningful links;
  • you need automated knowledge creation instead of manual chunking;
  • complex guest intent should become measurable offers, clicks and qualified leads.

Side-by-side

What the hotel is actually buying

Website-sales criterion HiJiffy website chatbot MAIIA Website Sales Agent
Core website job Answer guest questions, guide standard booking paths and escalate when required. Qualify intent, recommend, bundle and move the guest to the best next action.
Conversation logic
Answers and options often followed prepared topics; conversations repeatedly offered an exit action such as “I’m OK for now”.
Maintains context across rooms, children, pets, facilities, pet sitting, transfers, tours and wellness in one sales conversation.
Sales strategy Campaigns and booking flows are publicly documented; a property-specific autonomous sales strategy was not demonstrated in our tests. Predefined hotel-type sales strategies, automatically adapted to the property’s differentiators and guest intent.
Recommendations
Predominantly text answers and prepared CTAs; one contradicted local recommendation persisted after the bot acknowledged the problem.
Contextual product cards for rooms, facilities, activities, transfers, tours and services — each linked to its relevant destination.
Knowledge preparation Basic is explicitly limited to 25 FAQ topics; Pro lists unlimited topics and self-learning. The public pricing page does not state that complete property knowledge is created automatically. Unlimited knowledge. MAIIA ingests the website, Booking.com, reviews and PDFs, then structures and enriches the content for hotel review.
Updates Configuration and support vary by plan. Save in CMS and the agent knows immediately — no separate retraining project or fee.
Languages Basic: 3; Pro: 132. Conversation translation is listed for the inbox. The hotel selects its languages; both answers and visual cards are translated.
Booking handoff Direct link on Basic; booking engine and CRM integration on Pro; capabilities depend on integration type. Room cards link to the correct booking engine; non-bookable or combined requests become contextual leads routed to the correct team.
Broader platform context Beyond website chat, HiJiffy offers an omnichannel inbox, WhatsApp campaigns and post-booking workflows, depending on plan. Beyond WSA, MAIIA offers the Guest App, Business Assistant, shared CMS intelligence and A2A discovery.
AI search / A2A No equivalent A2A sales layer identified in the reviewed public plan. The same agent knowledge and visual answers are available to ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude; those queries are captured in the CMS.
Commercial intelligence Reporting, tracking pixels, CSAT and conversation tools vary by plan. Captures query, answer, language, offers shown, clicks and engagement across discovery, website and in-hotel stages; conversations can be viewed translated.

What the screenshots reveal

The problem is not whether the bot can produce text. It is whether the interaction behaves like sales.

A sales agent should know what to offer next. An FAQ bot asks whether the guest is finished.

Across the tested HiJiffy implementations, “I’m OK for now” appeared after many answers. It is convenient as a conversation-ending control, but it is the opposite of a deliberate engagement strategy.

HiJiffy implementation offering I'm OK for now
Spirit Hotel Gran Bilbao: the flow closes the conversation instead of developing the guest’s intent.
HiJiffy Know more interaction failure
PortoBay: after the interface produced a “Know more” action, the next response was “I couldn’t find an answer”.

When the system cannot understand its own CTA, the issue is bigger than a missing FAQ.

A button is a promise. If the action it generates is not grounded in a reliable destination and conversational state, the interface increases friction instead of reducing it.

The recommendation changed. The button did not.

The Spirit implementation recommended an indoor swimming pool for a family travelling with a dog, then correctly admitted pets were not allowed there. Yet the same pool remained surfaced as the next CTA. This is consistent with retrieval of a prepared content block rather than a fully recalculated sales path.

We cannot inspect HiJiffy’s private configuration or internal code. We can assess only the guest-visible output.

Atxuri Swimming Pool CTA remains after correction
The answer corrects the recommendation, while the interface still offers “Atxuri Swimming Pool”.
AX Hotels link mismatch in HiJiffy
AX Hotels: after a gallery/FAQ link mismatch was challenged, the bot could not explain it and offered staff contact.

Escalation is useful. Escalation caused by the bot’s own link is avoidable.

Human handoff is a legitimate product strength. But a website sales agent should first provide coherent product discovery: accurate visual cards, validated links and continuity between what it says and where it sends the guest.

MAIIA WSA · one continuous sales conversation

Now follow the same guest from a first question to a qualified, multi-product request.

These are not isolated feature screenshots. They document one conversation in which MAIIA retains the family’s composition, the children’s ages and the dog, then uses that context to recommend accommodation, services, activities, tours, wellness and the correct next action.

Scroll through the sequence. The commercial difference is continuity: each answer creates the context for the next relevant offer instead of resetting the guest to another FAQ. Click any frame to enlarge.

MAIIA WSA opens with hotel-specific quick topics
1
A hotel-specific opening Rivi introduces the property and immediately exposes useful discovery paths: rooms, facilities, pet policy, tours and transfer.
MAIIA WSA multilingual interface and visual room recommendations
2
Multilingual, visual discovery The guest can switch language while room answers remain visual and actionable, not reduced to a paragraph and a generic booking button.
MAIIA WSA recommends rooms for a family of four
3
Intent becomes a recommendation For two adults with children aged three and five, WSA recommends family-specific room products and shows the relevant cards.
MAIIA WSA captures a pet-sitting lead
4
A service question becomes a lead When the guest asks for pet sitting, MAIIA does not stop at “contact reception”. It asks for contact details so the correct team can fulfil a contextual request.
MAIIA WSA recommends nearby outdoor activities
5
The conversation expands beyond the room With the same family-and-dog context, the agent continues into nearby outdoor activities and merchandises them visually.
MAIIA WSA recommends family-suitable tours
6
Destination inventory joins the sale The guest receives suitable tour options, with honest qualification where dog policies still require confirmation.
MAIIA WSA adds wellness to the existing request
7
An upsell is added without losing context The guest selects a couples wellness experience; MAIIA adds it to the earlier pet-sitting request and preserves the contact and commercial context.
MAIIA WSA answers airport transfer question with relevant package
8
Logistics become another relevant offer The airport question produces a precise distance, a transfer path and a related package card rather than a dead-end factual answer.
Hotel booking engine reached from MAIIA WSA
9
The sales path ends in the correct transaction When the guest is ready to book, the handoff reaches room availability and rates in the hotel’s booking engine.

Verdict

What the sequence demonstrates: MAIIA does not merely retrieve nine answers. It turns one evolving intent into room discovery, service qualification, destination merchandising, an incremental wellness request and a booking path — while retaining the same guest context throughout.

The hidden implementation cost

Chunking creates an answer library. MAIIA creates the hotel’s commercial brain.

Manual FAQ / chunk workflow

  1. Collect hotel documents
  2. Split information into topics or chunks
  3. Write or approve Q&A pairs
  4. Attach a button, link or escalation
  5. Test contradictions and edge cases
  6. Repeat whenever content changes

MAIIA automated workflow

  1. Scan the hotel, OTAs, reviews and files
  2. Structure rooms, offers and services
  3. Enrich wellness, dining and destination data
  4. Build visual products and validated actions
  5. Adapt the sales strategy to differentiators
  6. Hotel reviews, clicks Save, agent knows
3 hotel employees were previously needed for deep manual preparation
30+ days of hotel-team work before MAIIA automated the process
3–7 days for a typical MAIIA property to go live

Why this changes the result

Hotels rarely have spare people who understand AI architecture, content modeling, nutrition, allergens, wellness contraindications, destination data and conversion strategy. MAIIA does not merely save those people time. It gives the hotel a level of structured commercial knowledge it would be unlikely to build manually.

Public pricing

Starting prices are close. What is included — and what still requires work — is not.

HiJiffy prices below are the publicly listed starting rates with annual billing. HiJiffy states that progressive rates apply based on rooms/beds. MAIIA prices are current direct pricing supplied for this comparison. Because HiJiffy tiers bundle different platform capabilities, pricing is shown for commercial context rather than presented as a perfectly identical module-to-module package.

HiJiffy Basic

€99/mo

25 FAQ topics, 3 languages, direct booking-engine link.

+ €99 setup per 5 properties

HiJiffy Pro

€159/mo

Generative AI, unlimited topics, 132 languages, integrations and omnichannel inbox.

+ €399 setup per 5 properties

HiJiffy Premium

€319/mo

Full journey, WhatsApp campaigns, PMS/CRM, requests and tickets.

+ €599 setup per 5 properties

MAIIA WSA

€100/mo

Small properties; €150 up to 150 rooms, then +€1 per additional room.

Unlimited knowledge; no separate AI-training or per-data charge.

Fair-comparison note: both vendors offer broader platforms. HiJiffy extends into omnichannel operations, campaigns and post-booking workflows; MAIIA extends into the Guest App, Business Assistant, shared CMS intelligence and A2A discovery. The evidence table evaluates only the equivalent website layer: HiJiffy website chat versus MAIIA WSA.

Commercial result

€160,000+

in additional requests and leads in six months

Generated by MAIIA WSA for a 170-room hotel. This excludes guests sent directly into the booking engine and represents the value of additional requests/leads, not audited booked revenue.

Why it matters: if the bot’s goal is merely to answer and close, answer volume is the metric. If the agent’s goal is to sell, it must retain context, surface relevant products, capture complex intent and make every click measurable.

Final decision

HiJiffy finds an answer. MAIIA constructs a sales path.

The broader platform decision should include each hotel’s operational, post-booking and integration requirements; this article does not reduce either vendor to a single widget. At the website-sales layer tested here, MAIIA is the stronger choice when the agent must behave like the hotel’s best digital salesperson: visual, contextual, multilingual, measurable and trained on the whole property without a month-long content project.

FAQ

Questions hotel owners should ask

Is HiJiffy only an FAQ bot?

No. Its public plans include generative AI, booking and CRM integrations, an omnichannel inbox, campaigns and full-journey tools. However, several website implementations we tested still displayed guest behavior strongly resembling topic/FAQ retrieval and prepared action flows.

Does “unlimited topics” mean unlimited sales intelligence?

No. Topic volume describes knowledge capacity. Sales intelligence additionally requires contextual memory, product modeling, recommendation logic, coherent actions, visual merchandising and a strategy for moving the conversation forward.

Why is “I’m OK for now” important?

It is not a technical error. It is a product-design signal. Repeatedly presenting an exit after each answer optimizes for closure, while a sales agent should identify the next relevant need or offer without becoming pushy.

Can both systems connect to a booking engine?

Yes. The difference is what happens before the click: a generic booking handoff versus a contextual recommendation with the correct product, content and next action.
